Art or Hat Stand?

Friends often say they like coming to our house because of its quirky features.
 
This is one. It’s a sculpture I made many years ago in a Paolozzi Masterclass now used as a hat stand by M.
 
Well, at least it stops people asking the inevitable question, when they look at a piece of art:
“What is it for? Does it do anything?”
