Quod oculus meus videt

Gas Street Basin

I headed in to Birmingham this morning to speak to a 'fruit specialist' at their Genius Bar about the laptop.  Apparently, despite the laptop reporting a service advisory for the battery, the diagnostics he used didn't show that the deterioration was as bad as first thought.  Add to that a replacement battery wasn't in stock and would take a week before I got the laptop back I decided to bring it away with me.  It's mainly used as a desktop replacement.  Have to say the specialist was very helpful and gave me a few ideas on maintaining performance.

Spent an hour or so walking around the city centre before the return train and I found myself at Gas Street basin.  This is a handheld pano and I was surprised at how well I had managed to pan without the resultant image being skewed.  I've cropped to the 6x17 format of the old medium format panoramic film cameras.  I just think this is pleasing on the eye as we tend to take in a scene in this way.

It's really becoming apparent how the skyline if the city is changing.  Viewing from the other side of the canal there are a series of large modern buildings in view.  When I was at the Bull Ring a new tall building is being constructed on the Eastside, beyond the old wholesale market and we also have the HS2 terminus under construction nearby.  Must spend some time taking photos as things change.
