Wren’s house

It’s Valentine’s Day. A great day for chocolate manufacturers, florists and restaurateurs. Perhaps even for lovers.

I take my mother into Marlborough. We return smoke alarms to Screwfix, buy woodstain from ToolStation, and get some fruit from Waitrose.

On the high street we look for somewhere to eat. A Greene King pub tells us that we’ll have to wait 45 minutes, so we go next door to Eversfield Organic. I have a very lovely pork stew and mum tries the soup of the day (potato, sprout & turmeric!) which is fine, once it’s been heated up.

I varnish the bird house that she’s been given by Thomas. Two coats, not too many drops. I hope I haven’t painted the door too tightly shut.
