The Riddle of the Sands

Whenever I walk along the estuary and the tide is out, I am reminded of the famous novel by Erskine Childers. Our sand patterns are of course much more modest than those in the novel which were based off the north German coast.

But the riddle is why the channels left by the movements of the tide are never the same from one day to the next. They have a degree of fascination.

I forgot to say yesterday that I did get a Valentine card from Mrs. K. Number 63. And she got one from me. But with these nasty colds we have not been in the shops recently. So the two cards were the ones we sent last year which I found in a drawer. Meant just as much and saved us a fiver.
