Looking down

On the recently reclaimed wetlands. Behind me is The River Great Ouse tidal river. I'm in an elevated position on the flood bank of the river but the land in front is often a metre lower than the river behind me. Until the year before last it was crop bearing land but to get it in condition to sow often meant the use of a diesel generated pump operating 24/7 for 3 or 4 weeks. It has been sown with wildflower seed which should eventually turn the drier areas into meadow land. There were only gulls and a couple of heron there this afternoon but come the evening various wetland birds will be arriving. The other evening there were flocks of widgeon, ringed plover, pink footed geese and whooper swans settling in for the night.
One for WideWed 'looking down'. Thanks for hosting Jensphotos :-)
