a lifetime burning

'Ol Red Eyes is back

A different take on the Great Crested Grebe.  It was not the best of days weather-wise and the Great Crested Grebe was fishing by the edge of the water near the shelter of overhanging trees in dull conditions - so hardly ideal.  As you can see the light is largely reflected upwards from the water.  I ended up using an exposure compensation of +1.3 EV to try to get enough detail out of the bird's darker elements, a high key approach to the eventual edit was what I had in mind.

This one is a largely an exercise in the pixel editor, erasing all the inconvenient details, being just about everything except the Grebe itself.
