I'm getting Cross with you...

Today I found myself in Cairns Church in Milngavie to deposit my progeny at his Stagecoach class. I wondered into the body of the Kirk where I spied a cross with a circle up on the wall. I remember hearing recently on Radio Scotland that this symbol of Celtic Christianity is credited to St. Columba. He arrival on these shores some 1,450 years ago in AD 563 and duly set about converting the picts and transforming Scotland into a deeply religious country...so if you're looking for someone to blame...
