Another step …

….. ….. ….. back in time - like yesterday.
The stone + plaque is for Thomas Tobin, showing that he & his wife’s cottage was 50m up those steps.

We walked up Tobins Track in the middle of the day. What a daft idea. Talk about mad dogs and Englishwomen…
Fortunately there’s shade at the bottom, but the sun in the top half was blistering. We did sit awhile at the top, in the shade of a small shrub. Missy just stayed with me! No going out in the sun up there for her. It was about 28°C at home.

I’ve been watching the outcome/s of Cyclone Gabrielle. The silt in one person’s home is 2 metres deep. It was shocking looking at the damage to that home, which is in the Esk Valley. Apparently the whole valley is full of silt. It’s horrendous, all of Hawkes Bay. And Northland is still suffering too!
