Lofoten Day 1 - Aurora at Karingsvatna

Today is the first day of the photography-tour to Lofoten, Norway. I am one of two guides for a group of 14 participants. An early start with the alarm clock set at 4.30 this morning. I arrived at Schiphol around 7.15 and two flights later we arrived in Harstad/Narvik Airport, Evenes at around 18.00. We still had a three-hour drive ahead, but it wasn't until long during that drive that the aurora was spotted. A few photography stops were in order! This photo was taken at the small Karingsvatna lake, which was frozen over. Lots of aurora activity and at some point it looked like the whole sky was just exploding with vibrant greens and magentas. See also the extra shot I uploaded!

We arrived at our hotel in Svolvær just before midnight. A great start with a great group!

It just happens that this day is also my blip birthday! Thank you for visiting my journal and a special thank you to the volunteers who keep this site running neatly!
