Sucking up

It is a long time since we last cleaned the carpets properly, so today we hired a carpet cleaner and got to work. Having sprayed cleaning fluid over the carpet, you can see here the excess water being sucked up into the machine. The water looks fairly clean here, but when I looked at the waste bucket in the machine, it showed just how much dirt has collected over the years - despite regular vacuum cleaning.
