Female Goosander

Female Goosander, Mergus merganser, also known as a common merganser.

There were two pairs on this riverside pond this afternoon.  It doesn't seem big enough for both and while I was there, the two males had a bit of a set-to.  I expect to find only one pair there next time I visit.
