Cave dwellings, water tanks and a cross

This is the view from near our apartment. The limestone hills are covered in maquis and garrigue containing an abundance of flowering plants - Pink Pirouette, Maltese Giant Fennel, Mediterranean Heath, Cushion Spurge and many more I haven't managed to work out. The limestone is often soft and can easily be cut to form caves. There are always loads of Black Redstarts, Sardinian Warblers, Blackcaps and Robins out there along with a few Cetti's and Fan-tailed Warblers and Meadow Pipits. Those plus Spanish Sparrows and feral pigeons are common everywhere and it's hard to find any other small birds - we saw our first Spectacled Warblers today a few miles away.
