Caerlaverock

Today's the day ...................... to feed the swans

We met grandson Dominic and his mum Melanie at Gretna Gateway Outlet Village this morning, which is roughly halfway between Kendal and Kirkcudbright.  And then Dominic swapped cars and came back with us for a few days.

Because it was on our way home, it seemed a good idea to call in at the Wildfowl & Wetland Trust Centre at Caerlaverock - one of Dominic's favourite places.  He's passionately interested in wildlife of all kinds, but birds in particular.  They make it so easy there, to get up close and personal with the amazing whooper swans, geese and ducks that come regularly every year.

We had a bit of a talk from one of the wardens and then she went out and gave them food from the yellow wheelbarrow.  This happens every day and they have come to expect it.  They are not at all put off by the spectators watching it all going on (see extra).

We had a good walk in the sunshine, round the other hides on the reserve - an excellent place to watch birds ....................
