Bilateral

Some tricky dynamics today at the bilateral government meeting at which Mozambique and Tanzania were discussing how to forge ahead with their joint plans for the Selous-Niassa landscape in the southern and northern parts, respectively, of the two countries.

One of the people helping to steer the meeting was a Namibian colleague who doesn’t know Maputo. So after a draining day in which the two government parties eventually reached a semblance of consensus, we decided to do a mini nighttime tourist circuit of the city, winding up at the Mercado do Peixe (Fish Market). There Nunes negotiated with the vendors to buy some red snapper, which was subsequently grilled for us as we waited at tables outside.
