Before the forecast for thick cloud by afternoon we set off on a beautiful sunny frosty morning to walk along the River Tyne from Haddington towards East Linton.  By the time we reached Amisfield Garden the ice on the puddles had melted and it was pleasant in the sunshine walking along the river with banks of snowdrops but was extremely slippery and muddy in places so eventually we decided after a couple of bad slips in the mud to go back via Gavin’s Mill and up the road almost to Athelstaneford.  Then we walked along a farm track past the ruined Barnes Castle and along the Garleton Hills then back to Haddington along the north bank of the Tyne by which time it had clouded over totally.
The main photo is the river beside Abbey Bridge.  The extra shows a prunus tree starting to flower beside the weir upstream of the bridge, with the sun outlining the sheep across the river and the pussy willow catkins, a view looking towards the Garleton Hills and an estimated 7680 potato/vegetable boxes at a farm which produces many different vegetables in the area.
