Resting

We joined a friend for dinner this evening, at a waterfront restaurant on Constitution Dock in downtown Hobart. As we arrived, this Cormorant was resting on wharf timbers nearby, contemplating the swirling reflections below. When we left 2 hours later, it was cruising the area, diving for fish. This is the Black-faced Cormorant, which is found only in southern waters in Australia. We don’t see it where we live, 1700 km north.
