One Year On

It is exactly one year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. There has been so much death and injury on both sides, destruction of so many buildings and communities and separation of families, not to mention the reported war crimes. The impacts have resounded around the world and affected many, many millions of ordinary people to a greater or lesser degree. What a waste, I just don't understand why anybody decides to initiate war for very little reason. We've also seen the resilience and courage of the Ukrainian people, the uniting of the West to stand up to aggression, the generosity of those offering their home to refugees and donating to support aid. I do hope that it moves to talks rather than fighting, but it doesn't look good.

Covid Update
The weekly ONS infection survey of private households up to w/e 14th Feb showed infections continued to increase in most countries, with an estimated 1 in 45 with the virus in England (up); 1 in 45 in Scotland (up); 1 in 55 in Wales (up) and 1 in 60 in NI (up but uncertain). The ONS also reports that people from an ethnic minority background are no longer significantly more likely to die of Covid-19
