The view
Towards what I think is Silver How as seen from the landing window where we are staying in Grasmere.
With the exception of the stained glass and floral display the same view we have from our bed. Pretty cool to be fair.
We met a very silly man in the Gingerbread shop today. Advising us that the gingerbread should be consumed within the week!
I think it’s gone already and further supplies will be needed before we move on.
A day of two halves. This morning we walked along Grasmere and Rydal shoreline to Rydal Hall where we had some Black swan cake (we had undertaken the walk with their Guinness cake in mind but this was close enough). The return route was via the coffin route. Never been that way before so that made a great change.
Vanessa has spent the afternoon knitting me a scarf made from Herdy wool (bought in the village) whilst I’ve been resting reading a Bob Mortimer book “The Satsuma complex”.
Had the staples out following my hernia op just at the beginning of the week and this was my first bit of exercise since the op. Nearly a walk too far but just about made it in one piece.
