Wandering …

… around Auckland.

This is a late blip.

It was a busy day today.  We did a quick run to the Parnell Farmer’s Market, called in to our butcher’s shop on the way home, MrMacD went off to the Maritime Museum as usual, I caught up with some household chores, went out for a walk, came back home and had a quick lunch, changed and went out to catch the bus into the city.  The buses seemed to be in disarray today.  The one I wanted to catch didn’t even appear on the schedule, then the one after disappeared, as did the following one.  There was a couple waiting with me, so we decided to cross the road, catch the bus going in the opposite direction and then catch a train.  As we set off I checked the app again and suddenly the bus we’d been waiting for was heading in our direction.  We got off at the next stop, crossed the road to the bus stop and, of course, two buses turned up at the same time.  The bus filled up as we travelled and we eventually arrived in the CBD.  Fortunately MrMacD was late and we still had plenty of time before our early evening meal booking. After enjoying our meal at Mezze, we walked up to the Aotea Centre and entered the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre to watch and listen to an “interview” with Richard Dawkins. Richard Dawkins was most interesting, although we felt the “interviewer”, who didn’t introduce himself at the start of the show, was a very poor interviewer, and I’ve been unable to find out who he is.

Whilst on my walk this afternoon, I saw the corten steel sculpture in a garden that we’ve walked past many times, but always on the other side of the road.  Today I walked on the same side of the road as the house with the sculpture, which is how I spotted it.  The art installation in the centre of the collage was in the Queen’s Arcade, as were the two beautiful glass blips.  We could see the Art Deco floor from the window next to our table in Mezze.  There is also a photo of Richard Dawkins and his interviewer, and the crescent moon shining in the sky after we arrived home.

I still haven’t had time to check in on journals.  I’ll try to catch up over the next few days.  Life is busy at the moment!
