Versatile Hazel

This Tree + Cake event was celebrating the Atlantic Hazel.  I'm not sure I've given much thought to this shrub - maybe even considered it an insignificant humble plant that pops up in so many places including, to my annoyance, our garden.  However listening to Bob, whose tree event it was, has completely changed my view.  The talk was so informative - hazel has so many uses and supports many lichens and other species as well as providing food for birds and animals including humans.  I will still be digging it out of flower beds but with a new found respect, and replanting it down the bottom end of the garden.
