Derelict Sunday

I found on my walk this morning that loads of trees had been felled in the area shown in this panoramic photo. I was rather shocked - the whole place looked so derelict! I've been walking (or in the past, jogging) along this track once or twice a week for over 30 years (most recently about 4 days ago) and it's been nice to go through this little wood between a branch railway line and the Metro line. I don't know the reason but am intrigued to find out!
