The Blue Door

On our last day in Bath we had a leisurely cooked breakfast before tidying up and hopefully leaving the house as clean as we found it. We then headed just a few miles out of the city to the National Trust's Dyrham Park wth its baroque house created by colonial administrator William Blathwayt in the late 17th century.

Originally the house (extra 2) had formal parterres, terraces and water gardens, though only a relatively small, though no less splendid, part remains today (extra 1) and is currently being restored. The main image is the "blue door", an almost hidden door giving access to some of the lost terraces.
