View from a boat

Mid-morning we said out goodbyes to Eleanor who was flying home today and headed out towards the port again. And, as we did earlier in the week, stopped off for a beer on the way at La Delicataezza. Once again it was a beautifully hot day. The others all decided on an ice-cream or frozen yogurt but I was not convinced it worked straight after a beer so I didn’t bother but I did stop at a Spar on the way for a bottle of water.

We walked all the way to the Marina - which included a bit of a cliff-top hike with some stunning views of the harbour. Lunch,  a well-deserved burger, was at The Upper Deck a pub that also had a great view of the area.  There were quite a few Brits who were obviously regulars and had just arrived (presumedly for the half term holidays) which was quite amusing to listen to.

Afterwards we hung about the port for a while. We decided that we would return to the old town by ferry.   The others all wanted coffee so found a cafe to wolf-down some brewed beverages. I decided against it because I felt I’d consumed too much and stayed in the shade before we boarded the little boat for the twenty minute sail back down the coast. At one point the boat stops and the crew thrown out some bread as food and a school of fish appear. There is a small glass-bottomed area below deck where you can try and get a glimpse of the fish. It was very nice but much better on deck in the sunshine.

This afternoon from the lawyer we received a note that all was going ahead with the Isle of Wight flat. While not completing quite as soon as we had liked - and coming down to the wire - but we are continuing to move forward.  A continuous knot in the stomach is nervousness and excitement.

This evening we went to the villa that Rob’s sister and Nick are staying in for a takeaway dinner. It was a lovely evening around by their pool with a couple of bottles of wine. We ordered Chinese that did not arrive so PY, Rob and Nick went to get us a pizza.  While they were ordering we got a call from them to say the Chinese place had called and that food was also being delivered.  We ended up with two dinners but consumed the pizzas, concluding that the Chinese was easier for Sarah and Nick to heat up later in the week.
