Ryde

Ryde, with a population of around 32,000, it is the largest town on The Island,. Tourists may know if for its long sandy beaches or Victorian pier but we spent a lot of the day in the town centre. We started the day with breakfast at The Star Coffee & Ale House, as we so liked it so much last night. The owner was alone when we first arrived so we had coffee and chatted until his help came in and he disappeared to the kitchen and returned with an amazing sausage and egg focaccia which was delicious. We will be back for breakfast again.

Most of the day was spent in the flat or walking. It was nice just to be around the town. I love this view down Union Street to the Pier with the sea and the South Coast in the background.
