Looking for the beauty

Edinburgh day 2

It was incredibly difficult to choose one photo for today as we took so many of this beautiful city. The morning started drizzly as we headed for Edinburgh Castle.  The views were lovely of the city below and my favourite part was the reconstruction of the prison.
Afterwards, we had a pasty and cake for lunch and walked to the Royal Botanic Gardens.  It was quite a walk but lovely to see a different part of the city away from the hustle and bustle. We had a short walk around the gardens as there wasn't a huge amount in flower but there were some beautiful daffs and crocuses on the embankment in front of a house. We got our bearings, and then walked to Dean gardens, following the Dean Village walk. The view from the bridge looking back made us feel like we were in Belgium instead of Scotland. The architecture in the city is stunning and one of the reasons I really enjoyed our stay.
Heading back towards the city, we walked through Princes Street Gardens and to the station where we caught the train to North Queensferry.  This train took us over the Forth Bridge but I hadn't told Chris that we were going over the bridge as I wanted to surprise him. Chris didn't realise that we were actually on the famous bridge as it's difficult to tell when you're on the train. We spent about an hour down by the shore taking photos of the spectacular bridges and we were extremely lucky to have beautiful blue skies and a setting sun.
Finally, we returned to Edinburgh and had our tea at the Ivy before returning to the hotel absolutely shattered!
