The Woog

…is an artificial lake in Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany. “Woge” means “wave”, so this is sort of a synecdoche. The street on the far right of the panorama runs on the dam. It was put up in the 17th century to have a fire fighting reservoir. The building on the far left is part of the youth hostel. When visiting Darmstadt the first time in 1980 I spent a night here.
