Dad’s got new wheels…

Today is my Dad’s birthday and we took him out for lunch at La Boheme, which just happens to be a few minutes down the road from NT Dunham Massey.
Mum wanted him to try using a mobility scooter before we go to Cornwall next month to see if it’s worth hiring one whilst we are down there. His mobility has declined quite a lot over the past couple of years and he now walks so slowly and gets out of breath so quickly that we end up leaving him in a cafe reading the paper a lot of the time when we go anywhere. He always says he doesn’t mind, but it can’t be much fun for him.
Anyway, after a short training session he soon got the hang of it and we had a nice walk around the gardens and it didn’t take us an age to get anywhere. In fact he quite enjoyed it, so we will arrange to hire one during our week away.  If he gets on with it OK, I think Mum wants to buy one so they can both get out more. Since lockdown they don’t go out that much together any more for walks which is a shame.

The lunch was delicious as it always is and Dad even got a free celebratory dessert for his birthday which put a huge smile on his face :)
