Pop cabaret

It was a slow start after last night’s fun but I did manage to get out and do the shopping for next week. After that we spent the day around the house generally pottering. I don’t know if that word is used very much these days but it feels relaxing and comforting at the same time.

Around 6pm we headed off to Soho for another of The Cry Coqs presents. Tonight was a celebration of songs from the Queens of Pop including songs by such artists as  Madonna, Belinda Carlisle, and Whitney Houston.  After a year of seeing Bananarama at various points, it was great to see them feature and, of course, Tina Turner, Kylie and  Spice Girls came up. I was also delighted that a song from The Pointer Sisters was chosen. I have many memories of late night drives around the country lanes of Shropshire to their Greatest Hits CD.    A celebration of Queens of Pop could not go without including Cher. Alex Lodge is belting out a Cher number in the picture.

This is the last of The Crazy Coqs presents that we are going to get to for a couple of months and that feels like a bad thing. They are always so full of fun and the talent that appears on stage from a wide variety of West End shows in incredible. I am always in awe at the ability of people to sing. Although, I gather, there are often more nerves back stage for this that there are for the big shows. Something about having to be yourself on stage and not a character.  If that’s true then it’s never been obvious to the audience. I would wholeheartedly recommend keeping an eye on the website.
