Rata

This is one of the Rata which is a vine rather than a tree. Ten species of Rata in Aotearoa/New Zealand; four are trees and very big. Six remain as vines. This is one of the two we have which have wound their way around and up a Ponga trunk. Both have reached the top of the Ponga, and in each case the tree fern is now a dead trunk.
