Circuit of the Shard

A great ride today. Setting off early when it was still frosty four of us cycled up via Hackney and Islington to Bloomsbury to drop one of us off for his regular treatment.

After a warming coffee and croissant three of us continued through the City. Approaching Tower Bridge one more  pealed off leaving Ron and me to continue along the south bank.

By now the sun was starting to warm us and as we pedalled past the Cutty Sark at Greenwich things were getting more comfortable. So many photo stops en route including one on top of a mini mountain somewhere in Rotherhithe.

A beans on toast lunch in a caff on an industrial estate in Woolwich refuelled us for our return to the north side through the foot tunnel. The lift up was out of order so we had to heave the bikes up the steps.

Then back through the Olympic Park and a final tea stop by the Lea in Clapton. Out for eight hours and now off for a curry debrief.

What a great day.
