Evening departure

Our cruise ship Coral Discoverer departed the Freycinet Peninsula in the early evening. We watched this sunset from the dining room. The Peninsula has many dramatic rocky cliffs. Close to the water the granitic rocks are encrusted in orange-coloured lichen, shown in the extra.

The name Freycinet is just one of many French names for places in southern Australia. Most stem from the French scientific research expedition led by Nicholas Baudin in 1801-3. Louis de Freycinet was an officer. More details on Wikipedia.

I’m posting this blip 2 days later. We’ve had very little internet connection for the last few days.
