A Bug in Trouble

In need of a blip I ventured out with my macro lens and found this creature on an ear of corn.
It seemed to be quite agitated and marched up and down for at least 15 minutes while I observed it. It kept spreading its wings and waving the bottom part of its body.
You would think it was constipated, egg bound, in labour or possibly trying to attract a mate.
But when I look at the image on screen I wonder if it was trying to dislodge that black bit on the yellow (in the extra) which seems as if it could be something stuck on. I can't help feeling sorry for it.
Any entomologists out there?
