For restoration

I've been indoors all day, most unusually for me. Garden jobs need doing, but it's just felt too cold, today.
So I've baked bread... and also had a long Facetime chat with Barbara in the US: our usual fortnightly catch-up. She's recovered from a minor foot operation, and can't get out and about, so online socialising is even more important than usual.
The image is of part of the top of a small table made by my grandfather, who was an apprentice-trained carpenter and joiner. My mother always understood this to be an apprentice piece, with its various decorative details. I can see, now, that it needs some TLC: some parts of the veneer are lifting a little.  I'll need to hunt around for someone to do this, before it gets worse.
