First Sunday of the Month

Tortworth Lake is open for public perambulation on the first Sunday of each month during Spring through Autumn, and today we walked with my brother around the perimeter. The day was used as a charity fundraiser for SARA - the Severn Area Rescue Association, who look after the tricky waters of the estuary and like RNLI receive no public funds.

It was lovely to catch up with my brother and Daisy the dog, and exchange news over a comfortable wander, but it was slightly upsetting to see how the woodlands have been ravaged by ash dieback. Locally the woods are taking a bit of a beating, with the Westridge also being harvested and Network Rail about to decimate the rail-side greenery.
