Dyffryn Ogwen

Today we return to Eryri for the first time since December. We’re hoping for similar snow cover - after all, it’s cold enough - but snow topped peaks are few and far between, dusting limited to high north facing slopes. And of course, this is our first visit since exploring New Zealand’s Southern Alps; inevitably, our familiar mountains look puny in comparison.

Still, there’s an essential bleak majesty about these Welsh Landscapes - especially in the greyness of today’s unseasonably cold March weather, and I just love the way the Ogwen valley rises from its pastoral softness, transforming into the craggy beauty of the Glyders.

Still struggling to keep up, but I’m slowly getting there!
