Citadel bridge in Hue

This morning we visited the famous Hue Citadel constructed in the early 1800s for one of the emperors- we decided just to wander round by ourselves rather than have a guide giving us lots of information we would never remember !
I quite liked this simple little bridge and the garden layouts which would have been magnificent at one time but were neglected by a later emperor.

In the afternoon we took a walk to a street market not far from the hotel and there I was more inspired to take photos and have included 4 of the many - not always pretty but very typical of Vietnamese life. I suspect some of my chicken loving blip friends would not have liked to see ducks and cockerels crammed in cages for a fairly predictable fate.

Some of the fruit looked lovely but less so the meat which did not smell good. Everything seems to happen on the dusty pavements from selling fruit and many other things to washing dishes and fixing motorcycles.

Tomorrow we head off to Hoi A for more experiences in this fascinating country.
