Spring

A little pootle round in the sunshine, and suddenly all the mimosas are flowering.

We went into town this evening to meet J-J and F for a drink and tapas at Seiva. They are French and live not far from us in the Aude -- we met them at the intercambio. The language negotiation was interesting -- they clearly like speaking Spanish when they're here ... this was hard work for me. Later we slipped into English while they told us about their round the world trip on a yacht (well ... two yachts, with a gap between the first half and the second half while they earned money).

It sounded quite exciting -- they bought just the hull of the first yacht and built the rest themselves. They had practically no money left when they'd finished, but they set off anyway, saving mooring fees by anchoring offshore, living on lentils and rice, and navigating by sextant.

We ended up eating quite a lot, sharing tapas followed by a pizza. Eventually we slid into French, with brief forays into English and Spanish. It was a nice enough evening to sit outside! Albeit wearing coats, but still ...
