The Hungry Mile

Today I went to the Sydney Theatre Company to see Edward Albee's play The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia. It was terrific. Being early, I wandered around the area in the hope of finding something to blip for wide Wednesday with the theme: road, track or path, and I came across the scene in my blip.

Note the sign at top right, saying The Hungry Mile. This is the name harbourside workers during the Great Depression gave this section of road leading to the wharves where they searched, usually fruitlessly, for work on a daily basis. Note also the beautiful Sydney sandstone the cutting for the road has exposed.

I made reference to the Hungry Mile in my wide Wednesday blip of 8 February 3023.

Thanks for hosting Bob.
