BROKEN WINDOW THEORY

Conceived by James Wilson and George Kelling in 1982 as a way of controlling crime. They believed neighborhoods should deal with problems right away.

For example, if a window is broken and not repaired, all the other windows in the building will soon be broken.
Then vandals will loot and destroy anything of value.
Add to that litter, drugs, more glass breaking, and well, you get the point.

In the 90’s Mayor Rudy Giuliani and the police used this theory to take back New York City from the low life's that kept tourists and families away. A success story.

Law enforcement and city leaders still argue the worthiness of the Broken Window as crime prevention.
