Wood anemones

A couple of centimetres of snow overnight in this tiny corner of the universe, but by lunchtime it had just about gone on the roads and pavements. Still bitterly cold, so it will linger a while in the shade.  The wood anemones in the 'yard, still waking from their winter slumber, are surrounded by ice crystals.

We seem to have escaped lightly this time. To the north and the south there have been heavy falls of snow causing chaos on the roads - reports of people being stranded in their cars for hours on the M62 and elsewhere.
