Gunby Hall then north

Back blipping - I've quite a bit to get on with!

Here's a lovely little gateway in the garden of Gunby Hall near Skegness. Later in the year it will be lovely, but it was still rather brown, although obviously well tended.  It's a comfortable 'small' mansion (!) built in the early 1700s and lived in by the same family until fairly recently, so the furnishings are comfortable and a mix of old and new.  The family was cousins to the Darwin and Vaughan Williams families aswell as being involved with the pre-Raphelites, so there were some interesting personal histories.  The family's original Tudor residence was demolished in order to construct this one as brick was apparently in very short supply at the time.

It had started sleeting heavily by the time we left so we had to forgo our planned wander through the Lincolnshire Wolds in order to get to out campsite at South Cave in reasonable time.  A sigh of relief when we finally made it.
