Weeping Girls by Laura Ford, Jupiter Artland

It's International Women's Day.  Three statistics were published by the the World's Bank Gender Portal to explore some of the obstacles preventing women from fully participating in the economy.

Globally, almost one in three, that's 736 million, women have experienced violence.

The gap between men and women in work participation has not narrowed in most regions in three decades.

Across the world more than one in five women have been child brides.

These statistics show us the challenges and help develop policies to increase women's participation in the economy and accelerate gender equality.
