Woman and Child, Lothian Road

We wandered down Lothian Road to the Traverse Theatre for this week's performance in A Play, A Pie and A Pint season.  This bronze sculpture, "Woman and Child" by Anne Davidson, is one of the few pieces of sculpture in the city of a woman.  She was commissioned by Edinburgh Council in 1986 to create a piece to symbolise the city's stand against apartheid.

The play, "Ten Things To Do Before You Die", tackled the difficult subject of a young woman diagnosed with an incurable, aggresive brain tumour using humour and poignancy.
