A day in the life

Hossmo

The place, Hossmo, is a very small village close to the coastline south of Kalmar. Once it was an important part of the defence against foreign and internal enemies, the church in Hossmo is the second oldest building still in use, in the county of Kalmar, built sometime during the early 1100's. Only the castle of Kalmar is older. People has lived here much earlier than that though. Actually the local"home-region society" "Hembygdsföreningen" in Hossmo has decided that the church was finished in 1123. Nobody knows exactly, because there are no written sources from the time so It might be true. Meaning that the church is celebrating its 900th anniversary this year, which is good for the local community.

That was not the reason for me to be at this place today, but something I learned during the Annual meeting of the home-society who had invited Eva and me to do our performance about Gustaf Fröding, a Swedish 19th century poet, who himself wrote a lot about the deeper meaning of a "home for the soul", the place you were born. Our 45minute poetry/music performance was well received and I was glad it was the last concert for a while, it's been a bit too hectic lately and I look forward to a couple of easy weeks ahead.
