Ling Fell

The best weather was in the morning with even some sunshine. We would have got out earlier except yours truly locked the car keys in the boot. After putting rucksacks etc in the boot I threw in my jacket - and shut the tailgate - the keys were in the jacket and I had only opened the boot not the whole car.

Marvellous service by the AA, within 45 minutes a patrolman had arrived, broken into the car and left and were were on our way to the start of the route to Sale Fell and Ling Fell from the Pheasant pub at Bassenthwaite.

By the time we were on the fell it was raining hard with gusty winds which continued unabated until the end of the walk. Lunch was eaten sat on a mossy bridge over Wythop Beck before ascending Ling Fell for another battering. Today’s blip is from the summit of Ling Fell.

We did debate whether to call in at the aforementioned Pheasant but as we were rather damp on the outside we went back to the accommodation for tea and shower.

This evening we had dinner with friends Jane and Adam who live in Keswick. We shall be guided by them and their dog Brody on the higher fells later in the week. Tomorrow looks rather wet still. It may be a more leisurely day, perhaps Castle Crag, a coffee and scone?
