James Watt, Artist

Blue Infinity

One of the aspects of James Watt's work that pupils coming to the Beacon will be exploring is his use of a limited palette in his paintings.

Over the decades the colours, the tones within that palette have changed as Greenock has changed.

Today, while visiting schools to discuss their plans and ideas for their workshops in June, the palette in Greenock was beautifully limited to blues, and greens, with splashes of bright colours. Down on the esplanade decidedly blue.

And so good to see ships on the Clyde. The Celebrity Infinity visited for the first time this season today. If you missed her, don't worry. She will be here about once a month over the summer.

Some of the pupils are going to be working on seascapes, and others on ships which James Watt painted. This is going to be interesting!
