Mekong Delta Trip

We left with our guide at 8 am and after more than 2 hours by car we reached our boat that started off on the wide part of the Mekong river delta. We stopped at a brick works and watched the various stages of manufacture and then made a second stop where coconuts were being processed into several different products.

Back on the boat we were each given a coconut and a bamboo straw and drank the milk and then ate the raw coconut. We then entered one of the narrow channels and meandered up to a drop off point. After this we picked up bikes and cycled for a while along narrow roads and across concrete bridges till we arrived at a restaurant. It is a few years since either of us has cycled but we managed to avoid falling into any of the roadside ditches !  At the restaurant the local food was delicious!

The next part of the trip involved a return along narrow waterways on a sampan from where I took the blip before joining our driver again and the drive back to our hotel in Saigon.

Altogether a really enjoyable and memorable day with many photos and some videos taken. ( The extras should be self explanatory) This time I brought my Canon DSLR and telephoto lens but these will need to wait to be studied properly at home.
