Wandering

A leisurely start to the day over tea and hot cross buns before setting off north in rather dispiriting drizzle. We’d hoped to go to Elie beach for a while first but it was too wet so we had a pootle around shops in Falkland and Elie before arriving at Kinneuchar Inn for a rather delicious lunch. Very cosy place…small rooms and wood burner keeping it toasty, and friendly helpful staff (shame about a rather loud mouthed, entitled bloke who dominated the place with his wife and two whippets)
We left, stuffed!, and headed to St Andrews for a wander in and out all the shops (didn’t buy anything, but nice to browse). The day had gradually dried up so we decided to have a bit of a walk and had the whole beach virtually to ourselves. Plenty of razor clam shells to crunch as we walked and quite a few opened pairs of tiny shells that looked like flocks of butterflies across the sand (extra).
Just as we turned to walk back we spotted this faint rainbow. Not sure what went wrong with the camera but I decided I rather liked the dreamy soft focus effect that I found when I looked later.
Straightforward drive home then we watched the film Empire of Light on Disney. Very good…Olivia Colman giving a masterclass in conveying a full range of emotions and a descent into (and return from) episodes of mental illness.
