Sea Pie

Horrible wet weather. On the way to The White Hide at Amwell Nature Reserve I spotted and photographed my third pair this season of great crested grebes doing their weed dance. One had a huge trailing piece and the other hardly any.

I knew that oystercatchers had been seen here but was excited when one flew in. The first that I have photographed away from the coast. It and a female shoveler were preening together. Love these birds. We named Sea Pye, our little yacht which we kept at Burnham-on-Crouch, after these birds and her designer Donald Pye.

I photographed the wren in extras this morning. Its confiding stance has had me singing Do You Want To Know A Secret? all day.
