Elder shoot ( Sambucus nigra )

Back to normal life after our week on Solace, so the Lodge needed prepped for the next guests.

As is my habit I took the camera on my walk to the bins.  There were various signs of "Spring bursting out all over" but the shoots on this Elder caught my eye.

Is the Elder a bush or a tree?  My reference books can't make up their mind, some say yes and include it others say no and don't include it.  I suppose it is a case of you make your own mind up.
